It's not about them being old, although I can't deny that J-Pop it's obviously perfectly logic to be on most anime openings (or endings), I'm not a fan and it was way easier to find animes that deviated from it on the 90s or early 00s. So I guess it's more about me getting older and not sharing the taste of kids of today, I love cyberpunk anime and it's not a popular genre nowadays.
